Everyone Loves the Snow!!!

Nothing is more beautiful than fresh fallen snow. It's a quiet white...to borrow a phrase from the book "What Is A Color?". I really love it, love it, love it! Of course, I don't like to be out in it for prolonged periods of time anymore, don't particularly care to shovel it...or to drive in it. But it is beautiful isn't it?

Our youngest granddaughter, Esmé, obviously enjoys it..."Queen" of the hill!!!

For grandson Noah, every "snow day" should be spent sledding and playing in the snow!!!

Well now...

While running errands this morning - I heard what I thought sounded like ice cracking on a frozen pond. However, I was in my vehicle and had just dropped off clothing, etc. at Goodwill. I looked up and discovered that the small gravel chip from September 2009 had decided to "go for a walk" across my windshield!

So...while temps are hovering around 4 degrees (and I did have defroster on full blast)I've been lucky that it waited this long to "do its thang". Of course traversing Lincoln's streets with last year's pot holes re-emerging AND the lovely washboard roads of Seward County haven't helped either. Each bump has prompted crack to extend further across windshield.

So I'll have to quote my "youngest brudder" and say "huh" and my youngest sister who will say "I told you so!"

Snow, snow, snow...finally!!!

A year ago we had more snow than we knew what to do with. Granted it was an unusual winter for Nebraska. But having the white stuff during Christmas vacation was pretty nice for the kids. This past week the forecast had been for snow arriving over the week-end continuing through Tuesday. Larry and I ran errands on Saturday, gassing up vehicle and stocking up on groceries. Sunday we awoke to snow flurries...continuing on and off all day...a veggin' kind of day. Last night's weather forecast had not changed. School closings scrolling across bottom of screen didn't elude to area schools closing on Monday so I fell asleep thinking Mother Nature had fooled us again.

Imagine my surprise when I awoke this morning to see our bedroom deck covered with a few inches of snow...but hey it's on south side of house of course it would drift. I padded on downstairs for morning cup of joe. Larry was working in dining room at his computer, it was then I realized he was working from home...a snow day? He opened the front door and this is what greeted me.

Finally a White Christmas!!!

God Saw You...

God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be.
So He wrapped his arms around you,
And whispered, "come to me".

You didn't deserve what you went through,
So He gave you rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.

And when I saw you sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain
I could not wish you back
To suffer that again.
