My intention when retiring was to do some traveling visiting daughter's and vacationing with sisters. I was able to combine many of my road trips with quilt shop stops. I have since accumulated ALOT of fabrics, kits, books, and even purchased a new BabyLock Quest sewing machine at Nancy's Notions in Beaver Dam Wisconsin. There are so many projects now that my sewing and quilting rooms are overflowing. Have put a "stop" on future purchases UNTIL some of what was on shelves were finished and gifted.

Curvacious
I started sewing at a very young age. I remember sitting on the basement floor of grandparents home on South 48th Street in Lincoln sewing on Grandma's featherweight. The fabric was white polka dot on Army green cotton ... it was a simple circle skirt and little matching top for my doll (Grandma had created pattern and cut fabric for me). The doll was one of the six-eight inch models - pre-Barbie era, she was of hard plastic, with a brunette "flip" and had eyes that opened and closed! I was so excited and felt so grown up. So, my Grandmother and Mother deserve the credit for my love of sewing and developing my creativity.

This is a table runner appropriately named "Curvacious". I purchased this kit from the "Quilted Stitches" shop in Beatrice Nebraska, the first stop on my 2011 NIQS shop hop. I loved the colors of sample on display. It is a quilt as you go project with an applique (curves)...something I had never done before. Now I can say I have done one and it might be fun to attempt on a larger scale ~ say a baby or lap quilt.
