The Beetle

I watched the most interesting program on NETV2 last night. It takes place in Jerusalem so is subtitled. It is the life of a mid-to early-60's VW Beetle. Schedule description read as follows:

In "The Beetle", filmmaker Yishai Orian traces the 40 year history of his Volkswagen and talks with previous owners about its durability and dependability. He also ponders the car's future, as his pregnant wife pleads with him to get rid of it.

If it is on locally, I suggest you view it.

Nebraska Sandhills

It's nice that I enjoy the drive between Rapid City and Ogallala. I took a few pictures of the scenery on my return trip earlier this month. I like to imagine what it must have been like to travel via wagon train...we are so lucky to have paved roads today!

Now these are some pretty cool sandhills!

This photo does not do them justice...but on the horizon is Jail House and Court House...wonder what early travelers were thinking?

The row of trees run along the Platte River edge.

I really love my Nebraska!!!

Snow...snow...snow...

I've always loved winter scenes and Alaska provided beautiful vistas. Unfortunately I didn't carry a camera...however I had my cell phone and was able to get a beautiful picture of the ski run area (including shot of moon) at Girdwood AK enroute to the Run5 Restaurant.

I also noticed the difference between an Alaskan hoar frost (following snow flurries)

and an early morning frost near Kearney Nebraska

Alike, but different...

North to Alaska

Just a few photos from our trip to Alaska for Lyndsay's graduation.

But first...the Schmidt tree...complete with Trent, Pati, Avalen and Judi.

Pati and I dined on Quizno's sandwiches at the Minneapolis Airport...yum-yum!

Lyndsay and Pati visiting at "Humpy's" after our arrival at Anchorage. It was our first opportunity to have fresh fish!!! Delicious by the way.

Graduation day...Lyndsay, Pati, Debi and Maddy...

Congratulations Lyndsay Elizabeth Bain!!!

Larry and his siblings...

Larry is the youngest of seven. This photo was taken on one of the many fall treks to Nebraska City orchards for the purchase of their infamous apples. (Obviously this is an older photo as Larry has a full head of blond hair!!!)

Our First Christmas Program of the season...

Attended Cooper's first Christmas program last night. He had on a long-sleeved onesie advertising his first Christmas with a pair of striped britches. There was also a little "Santa" hat...but you don't wear that when inside a building.

Unfortunately the classroom teachers had other ideas as to what each infant would wear. Cooper was decked out as a "Candy Cane" ... isn't he a sweetie?
